JaM Returns! [20 Jul 2009|12:04am]
In a few short hours the first Pin Up will go live, marking a full week of Pin Ups. Then, starting July 27th, I return to the comic that made me go crazy and take a year off with a brand new 157 page storyline.

I am probably not your God, but if I was this would be why.

More Ink Tests. [26 Jun 2009|12:03am]
I did another ink test today. I think it looks pretty good. I'm going to go with this style. It's a lot different than my old style, by which I mean it's exactly the same.

Also, I just joined Twitter. Amazing, I know. You can find me at http://www.twitter.com/joeandmonkey or by checking your local yellow pages.

July 27th, 2009 [23 Jun 2009|09:59pm]
Joe and Monkey is coming back on July 27th, 2009. At least with me on it. Before then I have a bunch of artists lined up to do pinups, none of which I've seen yet, so we'll see about that.

I have then entire next year written, 157 pages total. It is going to be in full comic book sized pages, ten of which are already penciled. I've been experimenting with inking styles to see what will work best. I want this year to be SOLID.

Expect updates to be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. No guest strips. No interruptions.

Tom Brazelton and I are looking at getting a table at Chicago ComicCon August 6-9th. If we do I will have a 24 page comic book featuring the first 21 pages of Year 5. Essentially 2 months of strips in one tidy package.

Here's a tiny preview of the new JaM. This is from a test ink page, the finished page will look a bit different.

Stay safe. You don't want to miss this.

Sketch Cards! [29 Jul 2008|11:20pm]
The only convention I'm going to this year is Fallcon. This is going to be the 20th anniversary of Fallcon and they're doing something really neat. They sent artists sketch cards to draw on which they will be using for various charity and promotional events. They'll also be giving the bulk of the cards away at the door. One per guest. I just finished mine and I'd like to show you them. Many of them deal with the story arch I'm currently finishing up.

I'm really happy with how they turned out.

Hey, let's start a Meme! [15 Jul 2008|11:48pm]
I don't know how these things get started, but I say we go for a meme on the Free Brett theme.

Here's DJ Coffman's contribution:

Seriously. [15 Jul 2008|10:23am]

I can't believe the Packers are doing this to one of the greatest quaterbacks in history. Before this I didn't like the Packers out of regional dislike. Now I really think the Packers suck.

I calls them as I sees them. [11 Jul 2008|05:18pm]
From a conversation with my friend Evan yesterday:

7/10/08, 10:08 AM
Me: http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/10/in-an-iranian-image-a-missile-too-many/
Me: dude, they only have ONE missile.
Me: look at the other two.
Me: it's just a progressive shot of ONE launch.
10:55 AM
Evan: Awesome.
Me: i may be wrong, but it looks too close
Evan: Sure does look exactly the same.

I totally called it.

From Drudge:

IRAN MISSILE TEST BLUFF: OLD ROCKETS, BOGUS VIDEO
Fri Jul 11 2008 15:18:02 ET

Many of Iran's claims related to missile tests during "Great Prophet III" war games -- appear to be smoke and mirrors!

The missiles tested DID NOT not have 2,000-kilometer range, the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Saturday.

Iran DID NOT launch a Shahab-3 missile, able to reach Israel.

It was an older missile that was out of production, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

And a video showing what appeared to be many missiles being fired -- is actually one missile, filmed from different angles!

NYT's Bill Broad is planning to quote military insiders.

GAH! [01 Jul 2008|01:02am]
The MySQL has become a little buggy so I am unable to post a comic featuring Tanya in a bikini. I know you're as disappointed as I am.

UPDATE: The MySQL sever has crashed. They're replacing it, but it could take a while.

Broken Arrow [11 Jan 2008|07:13pm]
My car was broken into yesterday. They didn't actually break into it. It was more like they opened the passenger side door which happened to be unlocked because I had given my brother a ride and forgot to lock both doors (I rarely have a second passenger in the car).

You know what they stole? NOTHING! Not a God damn thing. The only thing that's in my car is used Kleenex (I've had a cold for the past three days) and burned CDs. I'm sure the thief had a great time rummaging through my used tissue and Punk mixes. BWAHAHAHAH!

Coloring [07 Jan 2008|01:21am]
Boy, do I suck at coloring. I would like to have a colorist working for me, but I have no way to afford that. Boo-Hoo.

And a big BOO to GoComic's comic upload and posting system. You mistype a file name and you don't get a comic posted for the day. That pisses me off.

A question: [05 Jan 2008|07:12am]
Is it alright to get chills when thinking about how awesome the next Star Trek movie is going to be?

Polly-ticks! [02 Jan 2008|12:22am]
The Iowa caucuses are coming up really soon and I-for-one am excited to see what will happen. I've been following Razzle-Dazzle's journey to find the candidate he feels best represents his views. He's gone to many, many political rallies featuring both Democrats and Republicans. He's listened to their speeches, heard their stances on the issues. He has researched their views and seems well informed. T-Braz has chosen his candidate: Barack Obama.

Hell Yes.

Seriously, I wish every voter would go through the exhaustive search for a candidate they feel good in voting for. Making an informed choice is much better than the alternative. I have great respect for what Tom has done. However, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes while doing that. I would rather eat glass than go to a Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee rally.

Powerful Stuff! [31 Dec 2007|07:00pm]
Here's the cover to an upcoming issue of Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Oeming's wonderful series Powers. Notice anything interesting on Deena's shirt (character on the bottom right of the cover)?

I doubt you people care about this, but I'm happy so I'll share in my joy.

After almost 20 years of wanting one I finally got a mohawk. Hooray for me.

Return of the Jedi [27 Dec 2007|10:14pm]
In a few day's I'll be back in the drivers seat of JaM once Ryan Estrada's wonderful arch is over. However, there will be a few changes. I'm changing the release schedule of the comic to three days a week. This will allow me to occasionally sleep during the week, which I have found to be a great help over this past month. Upon my return the comic will be in full color rather than just black and white. I am doing this because if it's only three days a week I will have a bit more time to spend on the comics and color seems to please people, and I want to make the comic more pleasing. I am also going to turn JaM back into a gag strip and focus more on jokes rather than story.

However, I do have a lot of story to tell. That is why I am starting an entirely new endeavor. I will release Joe and Monkey graphic novels featuring completely new stories. Although the first will just retell the Joe and Monkey origin story along with Kleptobot's origin (at least that's the plan for now). The graphic novels will only be released in print. That way you won't have to wait a whole day for a new page. You'll only have to wait a whole year for a new part of the story! BAM!

I plan on enjoying the new year.

iTunes [06 Dec 2007|09:51am]
Anyone out there have an older version of iTunes for Intel Macs they can send me?

ONE MINUTE UPDATE: Never mind. A site that had it (but was down) is back.

So, how's your day?
